Job Summary:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position that fosters academic achievement among campus students by monitoring and reporting on student academic success, directing academic mentoring and study labs, assisting faculty and staff in supporting student academic development, and working directly with students as needed to facilitate their educational progress toward degree completion.
Job Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
Works from an office at Crown College. Regular attendance on campus to complete job duties is required. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and related software, printer, calculator, copy machines, and tools related to undergraduate teaching, learning, and research.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
· Monitor, report, and support student academic progress by:
o Identifying, in collaboration with Admissions staff and faculty, those students who are academically underprepared and/or underperforming,
o Collaborating with the College Registrar to administer student academic tracking software (currently Dropout Detective),
o Providing training for designated software users, such as academic advisors, athletic coaches, and resident directors,
o Communicating with faculty and staff responsible for student care regarding concerns in student academic achievement, and
o Offering personal guidance to students who are struggling academically or who wish to improve academic achievement.
· Direct academic mentoring and study labs, working collaboratively with faculty to identify and assign student mentors and to offer individual and/or group tutoring.
o Qualified candidates may also lead tutoring sessions or teach collegiate courses related to student preparation and academic achievement.
· Work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Student Support and other student support staff to:
o Foster wholistic student success, including mental wellbeing, positive residential experiences, financial planning, and sense of belonging,
o Recommend improvements to institutional policies and systems related to student retention and graduation rates, and
o Engage in effective recruit-back efforts for campus students.
· Serve the Office of the Registrar in related duties, including:
o Serving as advisor for assigned students,
o Assisting full-time faculty with advising in order to promote student retention, improve graduation rates, and foster students’ overall sense of purpose and belonging,
o Meeting one-on-one with students to address questions related to registration and graduation planning,
o Serving as a member of the Appeals Board and communicating decision of the Board to students and appropriate staff, faculty, and offices,
o Reviewing graduation applications and transcripts of campus students to determine student eligibility, communicate deficiencies, and develop recommendations for degree completion, and
o Assisting with Convocation and Commencement planning and implementation.
· Serve on related committees and task forces as assigned.

· Knowledge of undergraduate curriculum and registration processes
· Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment
· Administrative skills to coordinate multiple student employees
· Written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively to students, faculty, and staff
· Experience with technology and analytical processes to track retention and graduation rates, to report the information on a regular basis, and to make suggestions to improve processes and outcomes

Stamina to sit and to stand for extended periods of time in an office or classroom environment
Hand and arm (or equivalent) dexterity adequate to allow for safe use of equipment and extensive use of a keyboard for data entry
Vision adequate for frequent viewing of computer screens and safe use and supervision of equipment and materials
Body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Baccalaureate degree
· 3 or more years of full-time experience working directly with students
· Proficiency utilizing software and compiling and analyzing data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
· Education and experience in special education, counseling, social work, or a similar area.
· Academic credentials and related experience to teach effectively an undergraduate course
· Full-time professional experience working directly with undergraduate students in a college environment
· Experience with academic advising of undergraduate students
· Experience working with curriculum, catalogs, and registration processes
