Job Summary: Indianapolis Theological Seminary (ITS) exists to collaborate with local churches for biblical and theological training unto the glory of God in Christ Jesus. Our vision is to be the foremost accredited seminary in the region, known for its impact for the gospel by training culturally-attuned pastors and Kingdom leaders, operating within a structurally and economically sustainable educational model, and thriving in partnership with churches, generous Christians, and other like-minded ministries. Since our inaugural courses in the fall of 2015, ITS has grown to serve over 90 active students pursuing a Master of Divinity degree, Master of Arts degrees, or a Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies. We offer 7 to 8 exclusively in-person courses each semester (taught in daytime and nights/weekends formats), alongside mentored learning in over a dozen local churches, and intentionally designed cohorts for spiritual formation.

ITS is an associate member of ATS and is in the final stages of pursuing full accreditation.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in New Testament, preferably specializing in the Pauline or General Epistles, with at least 5 years of experience in pastoral ministry. The teaching load is 12 credits/academic year, and faculty are expected to advise students and serve on seminary committees as well as remain professionally active in their field. The successful candidate will possess a proven record of and passion for teaching and mentoring students while preparing them for vocational ministry.

Additionally, as the Practical Theology Director, this position will be responsible for overseeing ITS’s Practical Theology program including coursework done in collaboration with local churches and ministries. These courses are overseen by Practical Theology Mentors (PTMs) who are local pastors or church leaders responsible for guiding ITS students through their practica according to the guidelines outlined in the Practica Handbook. The Practical Theology Director will support and oversee students and their PTMs to ensures academic quality. The Practical Theology Director must approve all practica as well as train and support PTMs, which requires a deep understanding of the challenges and needs of church ministry, as well as the ability to build strong connections with local pastors.
