Job Summary: GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life is a full time, 11 month, live on position responsible for providing leadership and support for the Department of Housing & Residence Life. In addition this role will supervise Resident Directors. The AD position will also be combined with the role of Resident Director.

The Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life will also offer general counseling, care, discipline and guidance to residents as requested, give input on Housing & Residence Life departmental issues, and fulfill specific adjunct and special project responsibilities.

DIVISION: Housing & Residence Life, Division of Student Development
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, 11-Month
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:3+ Resident Directors & ARDS, 8+ RAs
Anticipated Start Date: July 18, 2026

Starting Annual Compensation: $65,769.60

Job Responsibilities:
Resident Director
Serve as a live-in Resident Director of a Residence Hall – see Resident Director Position Description.
Position changes:
Will not serve in RD On Call rotation
Will chair program committee & area teams
Will have limitations in Resident Director responsibilities, as determined in collaboration with Director of Housing & Residence Life

Professional Staff Supervision
Meet at least bi-monthly with supervisees to provide accountability, feedback, and support.
Receive weekly reports from each Resident Director and provide written and/or verbal feedback.
Advise supervisees on budget usage, tracking, and authorizations.
Conduct a yearly performance evaluation of each Resident Director supervised.
Ensure Resident Directors are regularly and properly completing administrative and operational responsibilities.
Provide direction and support to supervisees in how to support and direct a student staff team, as well as student staff supervision.
Participate in implementation of Graduate Assistant and new Resident Director training.

Housing & Residence Life Team
Active participation in the Housing & Residence Life Leadership Team along with other Assistant Directors and the Director of Housing & Residence Life, in order to provide philosophical and administrative leadership for the entire department of Housing & Residence Life.
Attend regular staff/committee meetings and programs as directed by the Director of Housing & Residence Life.
Meet weekly with the Director of Housing & Residence Life to provide updates and for planning purposes.

Student Care Responsibilities
Serve in the On-Call Support Student Care rotation and respond to individual student crises and campus-wide emergencies/major disasters as needed.
Assist in Summer on Call Rotation
Provide direction and support to supervisees in areas of student care and conduct, and respond to high level cases as needed.
Serve as a resource person to University staff on the needs and concerns of resident students.

Campus Collaboration
Serve as representative for the Department of Housing & Residence Life across campus.
Serve on departmental and institutional committees as requested.

Personal & Professional Growth
Maintain a lifestyle in consonance with sound Christian principles and those promulgated by the institution.
Performs related duties as assigned by the Director of Housing & Residence Life.

Required Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Student Development or related field; if Masters is in progress, ask for equivalent years of professional experience
Basic knowledge of and ability to engage with one’s own personal identity and how that informs engagement with concepts and topics surrounding diversity and inclusion
Ability to engage with students through empathy, compassion and understanding
Ability to respond to and manage crisis and/or conflict among residents and other students
Demonstrates consistency and follow through
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Two or more years working in a college and/or educational setting
Posture of humility and teachability
Willingness to learn and apply student leadership and student affairs theory and best practices
Experience with teamwork & collaboration
Demonstrates self-awareness and flexibility
