Job Summary:
A full-time faculty position is available in the Education department beginning August 2025. This position has faculty status and has an 11-month contract.

Compensation:
Salary and rank will be determined by credentials and experience. The College provides a benefits package and a stipend for moving expenses.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities as Education Department Faculty:
1. Teach undergraduate methods courses in elementary education, including reading and language arts methods.
2. Teach undergraduate elementary education courses, including a background in Science of Reading.
3. Teach undergraduate professional education courses.
4. Supervise elementary teacher candidates during methods and clinical teaching experiences.
5. Teach undergraduate course in completing the Kansas Teacher Work Sample (KTWS).
6. Advise current elementary education students and recruit prospective students.
7. Contribute experience and/or a willingness to teach education courses online.

Essential Responsibilities as Department Chair:
1. Lead development of the department curriculum, field experiences, and technological and library resources.
2. Develop and monitor the department budget.
3. Prepare the annual course schedule, assign teaching loads, and plan for adjunct instructors, as needed.
4. Lead department meetings.
5. Facilitate updating the department handbooks and college catalog, as needed.
6. Prepare departmental assessment reports.
7. Assist in grant writing for the benefit of Teacher Education.
8. Teach undergraduate courses effectively.
9. Advise current education students and recruit prospective students.
10. Supervise education students in the field.
11. Participate in faculty governance.

Job Requirements:
 All SC employees are expected to demonstrate a strong and articulate Christian faith, to model and mentor students in servant leadership and in the integration of faith into every aspect of life and learning. Specific requirements for this position include:

 Master’s degree required. Doctorate in Education preferred.
 Experience in public education teaching and administration, which includes program planning and assessment, educational technology proficiency, and budget management.
 Experience in higher education preferred
 Reading specialist is preferred.
 Recent experience in teaching at the elementary level is required.
