Assistant/Associate Professor of Pastoral Leadership

Job Summary:
This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach undergraduate Pastoral Leadership courses on campus within the School of Theology and Ministry. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Chair of the Department of Biblical, Theological, and Ministry Studies.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Biblical, Theological, and Ministry Studies, the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
Works from an office at Crown College. Regular attendance on campus to complete job duties is required. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and related software, printer, calculator, copy machines, and tools related to undergraduate teaching and research.
Job Responsibilities:
· Teach courses in Pastoral Leadership according to graduate training and experience. Classes may include Expository Preaching, Principles of Ministry Leadership, Christian Doctrine, Spiritual Formation, Church History, and other courses. A normal teaching load is 24 credits each year.
· Advise students in the Pastoral Leadership program.
· Stay abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment.
· Contribute to the field of Pastoral Leadership and/or the profession of college-level teaching.
· Support the mission, goals and objectives of Crown College
· Engage in general faculty responsibilities that include:
Participation in department and faculty meetings, Care of students, Crown College committee assignments, and at least 10 hours of scheduled office hours per week to be available to students.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Proven leadership in a vocational ministry role
· Demonstrated experience and expertise teaching Pastoral Leadership courses at the college level
· Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education
· Established ability to work effectively as a team member
· Demonstrate excellence in spoken, written and electronic communication skills
· Ability to integrate collegiate teaching and the Christian faith
· Experience evaluating students’ work and reporting results promptly
· Agreement and personal alignment with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant

· Stamina to stand for extended periods of time in a classroom environment.
· Hand and arm (or equivalent) dexterity adequate to allow for safe use of equipment and extensive use of a keyboard for data entry.

· Vision adequate for frequent viewing of computer screens and safe use and supervision of equipment and materials.
· Body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s level degree in Pastoral Leadership or a related field
· Vocational ministry experience
· Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
· Work experience in Pastoral Leadership
· Experience using computer technology in the teaching/learning process
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
· A PhD in Pastoral Leadership or a related field
· 5+ years of full-time vocational ministry experience as a senior pastor of a Christian and Missionary Alliance congregation
· 5+ years of full-time teaching experience, especially in Christian higher education
· Familiarity and/or experience with standards and assessments
· Experience with academic advising
