Job Summary:
A full-time faculty position in the Mathematics Department is available beginning either January 2025 or August 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach a variety of mathematics courses to service both majors and non-majors.
• Advise mathematics, mathematics education, and pre-engineering majors.
• Recruit prospective students both by meeting with them on campus and assisting with mathematics recruitment activities.
• Assist in maintaining and revising the mathematics curriculum through assessment and program review.
• Work with the Education department and other mathematics faculty to maintain the mathematics secondary education program.
• Assist the Director of Academic Support and other mathematics faculty in addressing the mathematics needs of students, such as identifying tutors and determining appropriate placement exams.
• Strive to incorporate the Christian faith in the education of mathematics students.
• Participate in faculty governance and committees as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
All SC employees are expected to demonstrate a strong and articulate Christian faith, to model and mentor students in servant leadership and in the integration of faith into every aspect of life and learning. Specific requirements for this position include:
• Doctorate in mathematics or closely related field preferred, minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics or closely related field required.
• An understanding of undergraduate college students and an ability to relate well to them.
• An understanding of an interdisciplinary approach to the liberal arts, and an ability to work with faculty from diverse disciplines.
COMPENSATION
Salary and rank will be determined by credentials and experience. The College provides a benefits package and a stipend for moving expenses.
