Job Summary:
Williams Baptist University (WBU) seeks a spiritually mature, theologically grounded, and relationally gifted Campus Minister to lead and nurture the spiritual life of the university community. The Campus Minister will provide visionary leadership for campus worship, discipleship, missions, and pastoral care in alignment with WBU’s distinctively Christian mission and Baptist commitments.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide spiritual leadership to students, faculty, and staff through regular personal evangelism, discipleship, mentoring, and pastoral care.
Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly chapel services, ensuring biblically sound, Christ-centered worship that reflects the university’s mission.
Oversee and support student-led ministries, including Bible studies, worship services, mission opportunities, and outreach events.
Develop and implement regularly scheduled prayer gatherings for students
Develop and implement campus-wide discipleship programs that foster spiritual formation and personal growth.
Offer pastoral counseling to students and campus community members, maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.
In collaboration with the Office of Advancement, serve as a liaison to local ABSC churches and Baptist partners, strengthening connections between WBU and the wider Christian community, particularly in Arkansas. This responsibility may require off-campus preaching opportunities in churches throughout the region to support the mission of the university.
Collaborate with local ABSC churches (especially church collegiate ministries) to participate in evangelism, discipleship, and mission opportunities for students in the WBU community.
Encouraging ABSCSupport the integration of faith and learning by collaborating with faculty, staff, and administration on spiritual development initiatives.
Support faith-based groups on campus, such as FCA
Encourage regular student participation in local ABSC churches in Northeast Arkansas.
Plan and lead domestic and foreign mission trips (minimum of one per academic year), retreats, and spiritual emphasis events. This responsibility will include leading in fundraising efforts for trips, retreats, and events to ensure maximum student participation.
Manage the campus ministry budget and supervise student ministry interns and volunteers, as applicable.
Teach 1–2 courses per year in theology, ministry, or biblical studies appropriate to university needs. A particular area of teaching is Christian Worldview. This responsibility is necessary to ensure initial connection with the student body as a whole.
Lead in execution of the Pathways to Purpose Strategic Plan campus ministry initiatives or other board of trustees approved Strategic Plan campus ministry initiatives.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree from an accredited Southern Baptist theological seminary.
Demonstrated commitment to Christ and alignment with the university’s Statement of Faith and The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000.
Commitment to the mission of Williams Baptist University.
Significant experience in pastoral ministry, college or young adult ministry, or related spiritual leadership roles in Southern Baptist churches or ministries.
Ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships with students from diverse backgrounds and faith commitments and lead them to Jesus or to a deeper commitment to Jesus.
Ability to lead worship services and disciple students from diverse backgrounds within a unified Christian framework.
Active membership in a church affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention
